I just changed the Engine Coolant Water Outlet on my wife's 2015 Chevy Trax. Reconnected all hoses. No leaks. Put coolant in.
ran car with cap off and heat on in car. Now it says there is a misfire on cylinder 1? Anyone have any ideas on what is making it happen? Wet wire? Air in the coolant system?
Wet wire?
possibly.
Air in the coolant system?
unlikely to cause misfire in one cylinder.
I would just clear the code and see if it comes back.
I've cleared the code. I'm going to wait a bit. Hopefully the wire dries or something and it goes away.
Sounds like something got wet and will dry up. Make sure you properly bleed all the air out of the system, otherwise, the temperature sensor will be giving the computer the wrong information and possibly causing the misfire code.
Air in the coolant system wouldn’t cause misfire in just one cylinder.
If the temperature sensor is sending false signals, it's possible (IMHO) that the computer could misread the temperature of the engine and indicate a cold condition which might cause an overly rich mixture and hence, a misfire. Of course, it's speculation. I'd still go with the "something got wet" theory.
