A friend of mine has a car and the AC blows hot and then cold, but sometimes blows hot when running, and cold when idling.  Not all of the time, just intermittently.  I just feel bad for this person and nobody knows what is wrong.  They've checked for leaks and also checked the blend door actuator.  Anyone out there have any other ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Find an automotive AC specialist who actually knows what they are doing.

Unfortunately all that Ford AC crap is run by computers and there's a zillion things that can go wrong. But if you can find them a mechanic like me to hook up his fancy scan tool and drive it buy directional testing can be done of the entire system to find the problem. Yes they are that complex and if it's a blend or the entire dash has to be torn apart to fix it so you don't want to guess you want to test

Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. So the answer is bi directional testing with a scan tool. Got it.

Is there an inexpensive scan tool that would be able to diagnose AC issues? My daughter is also having a problem with her subaru. Thanks in advance.
