2015 Sentra Transmission

I picked up a 2015 Sentra a few years ago used with 38K miles on it. I now have 102K on it. I got a notice in the mail about the Transmission getting an extended warrenty to 84K miles and of course I am past that. I called The Dealer and asked if he would recommend changing the fluid, (never been done at least by me) and he is telling me he would scan it and see if there are any codes for the transmission and if there are any like a belt slipping then he would not change it. I really am not having issues with it other than seeming to have some minor bucking a very low speeds 5 to 10 MPH and hitting the gas hard. But I am not really sure if this is a sign the transmission is going or just a characteristic of the CVT. I have watched your videos of not changing the fluid with high mileage cars but wtih this being a CVT I am not sure if I should get it changed. BTW welcome to TN

On that weak Nissan I would have changed the fluid every 40,000 mi religiously. That's truly a toss-up whether to change or just leave it and see how long it lasts.I wouldn't trust the dealer for anything I would just leave it alone and pray it lasts a while longer they are weak transmissions

I have a 2008 Sentra with similar mileage.

After learning about the CVT failures, I drained and filled the transmission with Castrol Transmax CVT.

Also changed the filter and cleaned out the drain pan and magnets.  Oddly, there was no excessive metal or debris.

This was all done at about 90,000 miles, with no previous service (the dealer told me to never change it!).

The result was a smoother running transmission that stopped shuddering.

I did a second simple drain and fill again at 100,000 miles for good measure.  No issues.

Of course, I look around and notice 2007-2012 model Sentra's are a very rare sight on the roads.

Not a hopeful sign.  Best of luck!
