I broke one of the transmission drain pan bolts when Reinstalling the drain pan. When I tried to get the broken piece out, Im pretty sure I stripped the drain pan threads on that particular bolt housing also.  Its a 10mm bolt by the way. Which kit can I buy to rethread that housing and put a threaded sleeve inside? How do I know which kit to buy? Thank God there are zero leaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

You can live without one bolt. If it doesn't leak then it will hurt absolutely nothing.

If you are breaking pan bolts, you are WAY WAY over tightening them. They only need to be hand tight. It's only a 10mm!

Use Time-Serts.  They are far better than Helicoils.

Which one fits a 10mm? I cant find what thread pitch/size those particular bolts are

You need to measure the diameter and thread pitch of one of your good bolts. Scroll down the chart under Kits & Inserts to Metric. !0mm seems pretty big for a trans pan bolt. Do you mean you used a 10mm socket to remove it or is the bolt diameter actually 10mm?

The head of the bolt is 10mm. I just found out the thread size is m6-1. Does time-serts have that?

Research shows the bolts are 6mm x 1.0 pitch by 28mm long.  It has a 10mm hex head.  It's on the Timsert chart, kit #1610.

Aside from the kit, will i just need a basic drill?

Yes.

Just to clarify, is the regular included drill bit the one I use to drill out the stripped housing?

Read the instructions.  The correct size drill bit, stop collar and tap come in the kit.

Be SURE to wear eye protection when doing this job.

Yes Sir!

In this relatively low torque application, it's a good idea to use a small amount of anti seize compound on the threads of the bolts.

Good idea! When I checked, I believe the spec for the pan bolts is 6ft-lbs. Not that much at all

I was referred to this kit to rethread a transmission bolt housing. Is Time-Sert UK based?  If I got scammed, just tell me straight up please.

What are you talking about?  Timesert.com, the site I gave you is a US company.  How do you figure you got scammed?
