Manual tranny hard to shift to 2nd

My 2016 Subaru forester six speed manual transmission on real cold days,  is hard to shift into second gear. Even if I let the engine warm up all the way. All so on cold days after start up as I let the clutch peddle up, the car moves forward slightly. Only once and after that it doesn't do it anymore. The rest of the day I have no problem with the car lurching forward. The shifting is not the smoothness. My shifter is not like my Ford was. The Subaru is best I can explain clunky. It shifts into the gears okay, it just feels a little more mechanical more than the Ford did. If I shift the transmission with the factory recommendation road speedwise . The RPM seem to be higher than they should be to me. 3rd 2nd and 4th run above 2000 rpms if I want it with factory recommendations. In sixth gear at 70 it is over 3000 rpms. My Ford RPM were lower. The Subaru has 137000 miles on her.

I hope I wasn't confusing. Tried my best to explain. Thank you

On smaller displacement motors like for example on four cylinders in my experience when cold they all like to “drive” by themselves when cold. It’s an odd thing but who knows why it happens. It happened in the Manual Hondas Ive owned which both have been Accords. Now weird but simple thing to ask, are you pressing the clutch all the way in ?

Welcome new member. The Subaru 6-speed manual is a pretty good transmission. First, look at @doc comment above. But second, if that’s the original clutch, I can just about guarantee it’s due for a new one.
Once you get it sorted, look at getting a brass shifter bushing. Easy DIY project and even though it doesn’t make a huge difference it will clean up the shifts a bit. I installed one on my WRX and was happy with it. Look at Perrin to see if they make one for your application (pretty sure they do).

Try checking your clutch master cylinder fluid level and all clutch adjustments before considering a new clutch package.

Hard shifting in 2nd seems to be the serial disease of cars with manual transmission. You can try rev it up a little when you shift. It works on my 4 years old Auris.
