What do you find when you scan for codes and live data?

In addition to the 2 motor mounts there is probably a transmission mount that may need replacing. Also given how terrible the transmissions are on those vehicles it's possible your transmission is starting to wear out. (Has it been serviced regularly?)

@chucktobias thank you the transmition shifts perfectly fine this is my fathers car the mechanic said that the transmition mount is fine no need to replace it my father drives the car to work and home that's all no lights on dash the car drives well its just when I open the hood the engine cover vibrates

@chucktobias could it also be a dirty man air Flo sensor or not

MAF problems would show up in the data. You could choose to clean that and the throttle body to see if it helps. If you do so be sure to use cleaners designed for those parts.

That does not mean there is not some internal problem developing that is causing vibration in reverse gear. Those Jatco CVTs are one of the worst transmissions on the planet. You did not mention whether that thing has been serviced. Ideally the fluid should be changed about every 30,000 miles to have a shot at some kind of longevity.

no lights on dash

A problem has to reach a certain level before the check engine light is triggered. Even with no light there still could be a problem that would would show up in a diagnostic scan. Without data you're left with guesswork. You could look through the TSBs for that model but there doesn't appear to be one directly applicable to this problem.

@chucktobias my father also says that it happens when the car is in park as well, but when he drives the car, there is no issues at all

As a summation, when your father drives his car he doesn't feel any vibration but when you raise the hood you notice  the engine vibrates at idle. The motor mounts were replaced and the mechanic states the transmission mount is still good and doesn't need to be replaced.

An engine vibration while idling can be caused by many things. A good first step is to scan the car and pay close attention to the live data (while idling).

@hixster hello hixster so my father brought the car back to the mechanic today because nothing was fixed to come and find out it wasn’t the motor mounts at all it was a metal piece in the engine, Bay and it cost him $700 it wasn’t the transmission

@larrybird26 Thanks for letting us know you found the culprit. Your dad should find a different mechanic.
