Hi Scotty,
I am one of your big fans. I watched your youtube daily. I really appreciate your car lessons and honesty. My wife has a Lexus RX 350 2017 with 42000 miles along with 2 additional years of warranty. We bought it certified. A few months ago, we found that there is a leak under the engine. We took to the dealer to check it out. They put the dye in and found out that it is due to timing cover. But they wanted to wait to see if the leak will also from the engine head gasket so that they can do both jobs at the same time. It seems like that it is less likely to leak from the head gasket, but they want to make sure to get everything done at once to prevent future issues. Is it bad to have them do the head gasket also? The engine is still relatively new. If it is not conclusive that the leak also from the head gasket, should we still have them do it? All these will be under warranty. Since they do this job, should we tell them to replace spark plugs and water pump too? They said that extra labor cost except parts. Thank you for your help.

I find it rather odd that Alexis with that small amount of miles even needs any of that work in the first place. I have never seen a head gasket go that quickly it seems to me that maybe they're trying to scam the company to get paid for doing warranty work that doesn't need to be done.
@scottykilmer
Thank you for your advice Scotty. It is for sure that we need the timing cover. But is it risky to replace head gasket early? Is it better to keep the head gasket original factory?
Do the head gasket test that Scotty shows in his video. Too early for spark plugs, they can go till 80-100K miles.

Thank you Nick. So It is for sure that we need the timing cover. But is it risky to replace head gasket early? Is it better to keep the head gasket original factory? Thanks in advance.
