Aftermarket backup camera problem

Hi, I bought an aftermarket backup camera for a 2018 jeep Wranger JK, the installation was smooth, this to work with the OEM radio unit that came with the jeep, it is one that was navitation, dvd, screen, etc.  After installation nothing happens when going into reverse. I put in touch with the seller on amazon and states that I need to go to jeep for them to flash the unit so the camera can communicate and work.  I have been searching on forums and somebody said that the flashing is on the jeep not the radio unit. A buyer that bought the same camera stated on the review that he had to get an OBD II. I went to jeep today and they want to charge 175usd fee to flash the jeep. Is there any workarround to do it myself without going to the jeep dealer, I mean, I already bought the jeep, I own the factory radio unit, dont understand why I have to pay an extra fee to make something work on my jeep.

I don't understand why there would be any expectation that Jeep would provide support at no charge (or any support at all) for random aftermarket products that people install in their vehicles.

You could find someone else to program it, or find a different camera, but $175 isn't that bad. It usually costs most. I think Mercedes wants around $400.

and did the factory unit not work? Not sure why you expect Jeep to help you with aftermarket mods.

The factory unit works well, its just that I understand that jeep has to flash my jeep in order that the backup camera work.

Dealerships have high overhead costs. You may own the Jeep, but it's not been pre-programmed with backup camera functionality-flashing your Jeep is providing a service and you should be charged for it. Nobody works for free, especially dealerships.

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger, and it only had one key at the time. I bought the truck with one key. It was also a chipped key, so another copy of said key wouldn't start the truck without flashing the computer. I took it to the dealership to have them flash it. It's the same situation with your Jeep.
