2019 kia forte burns oil

Dear Scotty,

I purchased a new base model 2019 Kia Forte with a manual transmission 3 1/2 yrs ago for $16,000. I use it as a work car driving 100 miles per day and have almost 90000 miles on it. I haven't had any problems with the car and it gets close to 50 MPG, but it burns about as much oil as gasoline. Should I keep it or get rid of it while I can?

At this point I would have to agree. Sell it. The damage is done. This is usually because you followed the recommended 7000 miles between oil changes. Unfortunately a better number would have been around 4000. A mechanic at a Kia dealer told me they just photocopied the Toyota recommendations without regard to the differences in the engines.  If it has always been an oil burner you could just keep driving and topping off the oil it but if it has developed this issue just lately that's a sign something is wearing out and is about to blow up.

Anyone else may chime in if they want.

I'd say "sell it." You can pretty much get the same amount of money back, and the dealership that may buy it from you won't even find out about the oil burning problem. But it sucks for the next person who buys it. And don't buy another KIA or Hyundai.
