Anything I should watch out for when buying a 2017-2019 toyota highlander?

No, they’re solid vehicles if taken care of. Are you looking to buy one? If so, have a trusty mechanic check it out before buying it.

Yes. That massive hole in your wallet.

Other than that, no. They’re bulletproof vehicles.

Irrelevant, if you intend to use the vehicle forever.

As a seperate note, try to stick to the 6 speed automatic rather than the 8 speed automatic.

They don't make the 6 speed automatic with the awd v6 don't they?

I can't find 1 single highlander with a 6 speed transmission in a 1000km area of where I live. Should I still go for a 8 speed or a different vehicle all together?

For the 2017-2019 model year Toyota Highlander, the 6-speed AT is only available on the LE trim (which is the base trim).

Still can't find any but I'll keep looking, thanks!

Should I buy an 8 speed at in these highlanders? I'm buying a vehicle tmr nomatter what and i need to know if it's a good idea.

The 8 speeds are OK but a 6 speed would have been ideal. The 8 speeds were known for short term issues and long term reliability isn't proven.

See below:

The 8-speed AT in that vehicle is the UA80F transmission and has only been around since 2017 model year (it’s also in the 2017+ Toyota Sienna). Anyhow, besides some of the short term issues, the jury is out on the long term reliability of these transmissions. If you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time and put as much mileage as possible, I would stick to the 6-speed AT. Did you also expand your search to older model year (pre-2017) Highlanders?

So there are no 8 speed transmissions up until the 2017 year model?

That is correct. 8-speed only became available starting with 2017 model year and beyond.

OK ill try to find a 2016 highlander for cheap, thanks for the support guys
