2020 Ford Ranger Gas in Oil

Scotty,

I have a 2020 Ford ranger. Purchased in 8/20. 7200 Miles. Automatic Transmission. 2.3 L Ecoboost. Recently had my first oil change. Checked oil at fill up. Dipstick was 1.5 inches higher than max fill mark on dipstick. It smelled like gasoline. What do I do? It’s still under warranty all the way around. Help!

Yup, take it back to the dealership and use that warranty. Those 2.3 ecoboosts those Rangers have are not good for the long haul. If you haven’t already make sure you install a oil catch can to keep carbon from building up on the valves.

That is called oil dilution. Essentially, fuel is getting by the piston rings and into the engine where it mixes with the oil and dilutes the oil's ability to lubricate the motor.

Take it back to Ford, but don't expect them to do much unless you are ready to dig in and press the issue.
