WLT Oil leak

Hello, i have a ford ranger with WLT 2.5 no turbo engine and i have problem with it, the engine was leaking oil massively from top of the engine ( as the red arrow pointing in the picture below) it leak from one of the knobs on top there and i noticed some of the coolant on the ground as well, however i took it to the mechanic and he said the knob was bad so he replaced it but it still leaking, he put in it some sealing adhesive inside and outside covering the whole knob to stop the leaking, it reduced it but it still leaking little bit, and i have no idea what to do.

he did this because he thought it is easier to stop the leakage, IDK how long it will hold though.

You really do need to find a new mechanic. That hack job is not going to last very long at all.

Last question, i uploaded unlisted video on youtube can you tell me if its ok to drive or not and if there is any other thing wrong with the engine==> https://youtu.be/ezaMz5AU1O4?si=U4b-FrVA1CD7KA9m .

Thank you.

I really can't tell from the video. Making that determination would really need hands-on examination.

running on straight water?

I have to add water more often do i add regular water ( not tap water ).

in the winter, I would be using antifreeze mix. Water is going to rust everything.

here is the image, and is it ok what the mechanic did here.

Scotty does not usually revisit topics he has already answered.

That does not look "OK" at all. It looks like the leak has been "fixed" using J.B. Weld or something similar. Is the cylinder head cracked? Not good.

it but it still leaking little bit, and i have no idea what to do.

I can't see if those are head bolts or what .... but the engine needs to be disassembled, and inspected to find where the leak is coming from . If it's a blown gasket then replace it. If it's a cracked block, then you need a new one, etc...

I can't tell what the arrow is pointing to but I very much doubt that it is a "knob". Maybe a bolt that holds the valve cover in place? (I assume you're not talking about the black hose that the arrow appears to be pointing at that appears to be an air intake.)

If the valve cover gasket or a seal is leaking it needs to be replaced. But really more details are needed as to what is actually going on and what exactly this "knob" is.

It is this one : https://imgur.com/undefined

{pear}:laughingoutloud:

you can't replace bolts with jbweld

Me thinks you need a new mechanic

The bolt has ben replaced with new one, the mechanic said he needs to open the engine because the problem is from the inside so he did this because he thought it is easier to stop the leakage, IDK how long it will hold though.

Well, the bolt holds the gaskets together. I'm assuming the gaskets inside are all shot and you have to tear the engine apart to fix it

here is the image, and is it ok what the mechanic did here. ( the bolt dosent leak anymore, but still very litle leakage in the middel of the engine).

that is so mickey mouse
