I’m Purchasing a 2020 Mazda CX-5 touring for $23,779 out the door. It has 32k miles on the odometers. Is this a good deal? (That’s the final price after taxes and fees.)

The engine in that vehicle is the 2.5 L naturally aspirated in-line 4 which is normally a good engine except now it has cylinder deactivation that MMJ mentioned above.   I don’t know how long or how many miles you plan to put on this vehicle, but in the long run the cylinder deactivation can be a big liability.  If you are the type that likes to keep their vehicles for a long time with high mileage (well past 100,000 miles) I would think twice about purchasing this.  Also, as far as I know, there is no way to permanently turn off the cylinder deactivation system (even in the aftermarket).

I would save up a little more for a new Corolla Cross.

Mazda uses cylinder deactivation.
