Hi Scotty! I've been shopping around for a car and am interested in a Lexus GS 350 (as well as a Lexus IS 250). But the prices for a used 2015 GS 350 is $27k - with all the fees it's coming out to nearly $37k. For this price, I was considering getting a new 2021 Kia K5. What would be your recommendation? What are your thoughts on the K5 model - could it be better than other Kia models? Thank you!

What’s the mileage on the Lexus?

Oh I’d go 10/10 for the Lexus. It’ll outlive the Kia by 5 times or more, with less than a quarter of the repairs involved.

The Kia might seem tempting right now thanks to its sticker price, however 4-5yrs into ownership, it’ll start to fall apart with serious engine problems, while the Lexus will chug along easily past 20yes with just regular maintenance.

Definitely get the Lexus but man get a couple years older $40k is full on robbery.

You didn’t say the mileage on the Lexus, but easily I would recommend the Lexus GS350 over the Kia K5.  The Lexus has a true and tried powertrain and will last longer (with fewer issues) than the Kia.

In fact I plan on getting one myself, and yes the lower mileage GS350 of this last and final generation command a premium in $$$.

hands down the Lexus, I would suggest looking into the 2016 models since they were refreshed then and look a lot nicer. I would stay away from the Kia since they fall apart before 100k miles. If you really love the Kia, then lease it, but don't buy it.
