I also live in Alaska and it is zero degrees today. At times it can get -10F, but not too often. Winters here is south central Alaska can typically average 20-30 deg F here in the winter.
We also have a commute of 100 miles round trip 5x/week, w/ speeds of 70-72 mph.
I would favor reliability and longevity over fuel efficiency, but has technology advanced in the hybrid dept?
What are your thoughts?

In my opinion, if you look at the time scale that crude oil cars have been around vs hybrid/ev, the market is fairly new, I'm no expert on hybrid by far, but I do know that battery's and high voltage systems need to meet certain temperature requirements in order to extend the life of em. Seeing as how you live in alaska I believe that you can get way more out of your gas car than if you decided to go hybrid.
Those temp differences will quickly destroy those batteries.
Just get the regular petrol RAV4. Don’t buy hybrid if you want ultra reliability, as they cost a fortune to repair after they start breaking down due to age & wear.
