So I just bought a used 2021 Hyundai Sonata. It has about 46k miles on it and I love it... other than one minor issue (maybe?) At stop, when I go to accelerate, the car feels kinda sluggish but then all of a sudden overcompensates and the rpm's kick in quickly. This doesn't ALWAYS happen, but a lot when accelerating from stop.
I'm curious if this is something as simple as it having a 1.6L engine or simply just the way this car behaves. It went under a 164 point inspection (certified pre own from the dealer.) I plan on taking it to get checked, but wanted to see if there was any insight here before I do. Thanks!

Not something most of us recommend here.

Didn't this behavior show up during the pre-purchase inspection? You'd probably want to start off with basics like cleaning throttle body and MAF sensor, checking filters and plugs, fuel pressure, vacuum leaks, etc.
Or, does it feel like the transmission is slipping and then suddenly jamming into gear?

That frequently doesn't mean much. It's more of a marketing gimmick than anything else.

@chucktobias Thanks for the feedback! During the test drive, I didn't notice it - I only really notice it especially when I'm pulling onto a road with oncoming traffic and I have to go quickly. It really is pretty minor, but there's still enough worry there that I just want to be 100% sure it's not a larger issue.
I do have a 10,000 mile powertrain warranty and I know a really great local shop that could take a look at it. I'll probably take it to them for a more honest inspection (they've always been great to me.) Hopefully it's something not too detrimental, expensive, or complex. If anything does come up. I'll definitely take advantage of the warranty and get it fixed.
Other than that, everything runs smoothly. I know hyundais aren't highly favored for reliability and have a plethora of issues, but I plant to treat it well - hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones haha.
pre own from the dealer.
pre-owned means it should be guaranteed against problems, so take it back to them. It's a Hyundai, so you're going to be on a first name basis with them.
