Hi Scotty,
I've been following your videos for quite some time now and I have a question, now that I am in need for a car. Which one would you recommend: 2023 Honda HRV LX vs 2024 Mazda CX-30 S? I know that you don't necessarily like CVTs (which the HRV has) so I wanted your input. One thing to consider is the Honda dealer is giving me FOREVER POWERTRAIN PROTECTION (AKA LIFETIME WARRANTY) on the HRV.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Appreciatively,
Sam

That means nothing, and quite frankly the less the dealer and their monkeys work on your vehicle, the better. Also, most of these warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on.

They're giving you nothing. If you check the terms and conditions of that "warranty" you'll most likely find you need to do all required and suggested services at inflated dealer prices and there will be provisions that let them weasel out of coverage.
Go with the Honda HRV. The HRV comes with a naturally aspirated 2.0L in-line 4 with port injection (which is rare nowadays). The CVT is fine, just change the fluid every 30,000 miles.
.
The Mazda’s engines are not good: their naturally aspirated engine has cylinder deactivation which is not good for engine longevity and their turbocharged offerings are prone to burning oil.
