Mr. Kilmer,
My wife wants to get a 2024 Chevy Trax as her local daily driver. I drive a 2023 Toyota Sienna that does all the heavy lifting and driving for our family so we can afford for her car to be a more affordable budget model. All 2024 Trax have a 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. Is this enough power for a local daily driver? I know you don’t like turbocharge because they wear out the engine faster. She will probably have this car for less than 7 years before she wants to trade it in for her next car. Thank you for letting me know what you think. I appreciate it.
Generally, Scotty recommends against buying GM vehicles. And in this case we're talking about an economy model with tiny turbocharged GDI engine, meaning it's going to start falling apart soon after the warranty expires. This is not a vehicle you want to keep for 7 years.
The Chevy Trax is a piece of garbage that will likely develop serious problems before the warranty is even up, let alone expecting 7 years out of it. Look elsewhere if you value your money.
An tiny turbocharged 3 cylinder engine with GDI that is extremely overstressed and paired to poor quality of GM these days? There's so many better choices out there.
If she likes it, lease it.
