Hi, Scotty please just wanna know before taking my engine to the machanic. I have a 89 chevy with a built 350 5.7 V8 and it is making this noise on the drivers side and also been burning oil. It also has loss power and overheating. It over heats when park or stop light and when running it cools down I’m really just done.

so what do you think it could be ?

For the overheating issue, check the coolant level, radiator (make sure it is not clogged) and also the cooling fans. For oil burning, the piston rings are worn out and needs to be rebuilt. If it does it burn a lot, just add oil.

Yaser has it right, your rings are toast.  For the cooling system check air in system, thermostat, radiator cap, radiator, overflow tank and the water pump.

The tick tick noise could be a bad hydraulic lifter.
