My 2013 prius plug in hatch struts are worn and won't stay up in cold weather, work better when it is warm. Toyota oem struts are too expensive. What is an aftermarket strut for the rear hatch that won't fall apart quickly?
Just buy the cheapest ones on eBAY...they can last only a year but the cost is so cheap its negligible. Sometimes they might last longer.....
By the way...welcome aboard!
What is the mileage of you car? If it is approaching 150k miles, just do what @dion suggests. You then don't know what will fail first, battery or struts.
Otherwise KYB ones might be decent. You can also take a look on a junkyard for wrecked Priuses. Perhaps they have decent struts.
Good luck!
I highly recommend Stabilus.
I replaced my Gen 2 rear hatch struts with them.
When I went to take the old ones out, lo and behold, they were branded Stabilus.
Stabilus appears to be an OEM supplier for Toyota.
Thanks, will look into that. My prius plug in has 93k on it, probably will last a long time as my milage decreased to due to permanent work from home
