Hello,
I have a 4T65EV transmission in a Volvo S80 2.9i 2002 b6294s2 motor.
Looks like transmission has a noise in NEUTRAL (or in PARKING):
We tried to replace oil & filter in transmission. But issue still persist. It only does when transmission fluid reach the working temperature.
What to do?
A regular car repair shop advised to use the car, but that sounds a bit risky.
How do you know it's the transmission?
spin axle in neutral too
transmission is fubar.
How do you know it's the transmission?
We hear the noise from the transmission side. We replaced left & right axles and axle seal 2 months ago. And noise appeared 1 month ago.
My current guess is the noise comes from where the shaft connects to the transmission. Torque converter try to spin axle in neutral too but usually car has a big weight and you can not see this process ( https://www.youtube.com/shorts/njP2se8fzIk ) . And maybe the aftermarket axle has some misfit / misbalance wearing and produce this sound in neutral. Maybe the axle is cheap quality / too loose and transmission moves it a bit in neutral and it produce this sound? Or where the transmission connects to the tranny is too loose and you hear it crackling in neutral.
transmission is fubar.
The transmission got a rebuilt last year December. Not so long ago. Torque converter got rebuilt too. It should not be bad.
Maybe. If they did it correctly
