I didn’t see this listed in the article but was that 600 mile range the expected WLTP range (Europe) or EPA range (US)?  The WLTP range is usually more generous than the EPA range so curious if they were really aiming for 600 mile EPA.  Makes more sense for marketing and hype to go with the WLTP range (and not mention it of course).  Have to see it to believe it, I guess.

The technology is yet to be proven. The numbers that NIO show are on computers, not real life scenario. While we always want to see progress, this will be the second time that NIO was able to make a new car while being hand held by the CCP. it is cool, I'll grant it that. Prior to this they had a 5 minute battery change. Whenever the car was low it would just go to a station that was built and hotswap the battery. Again another cool concept that never really took fruition besides a couple of cars that we're in the test city of the province they were based in.i would remain sceptical of a better fully electric car than lucid or tesla, then again if any people were to build one it would be the Chinese lol

Assuming there is a kernel of truth to it, that range would likely be achieved only under ideal conditions with a new battery. Kind of like the claim made for the Nash 600's ability to go 600 miles on a tank of gas. Maybe on level ground driving at 30 miles per hour in mild weather, but you're not likely to see that range in real-world driving conditions.

It seems to me a lot of these EV brands overpromise and underdeliver. I will be impressed in you can get this in the real world but I doubt it.
