You don't even want to hear what I have to say about buying something that ridiculous

I used to have one of those dune buggies, They were originally made by Meyers Manx out in California but by 1970 every fibreglass shop in California were  cloning the fiberglass bodies.

It was fun. The bodies were made to fit on a VW Beetle pan that was shortened by about a foot.

The only reoccurring issue I had with it was breaking the transmission mounts in the sand.

That fiberglass body was really light and with the wide tires it "floated" on the sand.

When going up sand dunes it would "jump" while gaining traction and "floating" on the sand

The "aftermarket" companies that catered to dune buggy/Baha Bug enthusiasts began offering solid transmission mounts to solve that problem and they worked.

To answer your question, I'd look for one on Craigslist.

Depending on how far you're willing to travel, check different areas close to you.

I just saw one of those for sale on Orlando Craigslist a few months ago.

Good Luck!

Hey, you got me feeling nostalgic for when I was  teenager and had my dune buggy with the wind blowing through my hair.

Today, I have neither. 🙁

Anyway, Meyers Manx has reopened and are making dune buggies again.

You can buy a kit that includes the fiberglass body and hood for around $2,400.

Or, if you prefer, they offer complete dune buggies.

I think it would be pretty fun to find a beat-up VW bug, buy the kit,  and make your own.

Google "meyers Manx"
