In a few of Scotty's videos he mentioned an issue with the 7th generation Celicas and the Yamaha designed engines. The 2ZZ-GE is the engine in question, and is used in the GT-S. What about the 1ZZ-FE in the GT? I'm assuming it's the same exact engine as the 1998-2002 Corolla, so are those ones okay? I really like the sporty look of these Celicas, and I'd rather get a car that has a timing chain instead of a belt like the older models.
As others have said, they are oil burners. I'd avoid it.
If they are the same engines as the ones in Corolla, avoid them, they are oil burners.
I would avoid it as the 1ZZ (same engine as in Corolla) had oil burning issues.

I'd avoid the last generation Celica, both engines.
