Hey scotty,

Love your videos. I'm driving a 91 Volvo 240 DL wagon. I got it when I was 22 and I'm 37. I has 450K on it and I probably put about 4 grand into repairs all done myself. I do i.t and electrical so Ill fix my car but wouldn't wanna do that like you do (kudos on that)

anyways my issue is this.. There is a leak somewhere and the computer gets wet.. so I have about 3 of them... I recently finally put one of those universal o2 sensors on being I can solder well so i just matched it to the old harness. did the test (its 3 wire) and its producing voltage. when its connected it idles good but when I go to take off it sounds like the engine just dumps almost like it died but if i let go, or drive grandma slow it will go.. If it unplug it I can accelerate but smells like it's running rich. It doesn't have OBD 2 and using the built-in blinky test I only got a few codes not relevant to this issue. I am thinking it may be the MAF but it runs worse when thats unplugged so usually, that means it's working.. I am working on my truck so i can upgrade but i do wanna keep this because I have had it for so long and my uncle who helped me get it passed away. i went with universal because the oem with that long harness is really expensive, same with the MAF

Thanks scotty, your videos have been amazing over the years thank you for hours of knowledge and entertainment

As supplement to what Scotty may know about this, for something this tricky, you might want to go to one of the Volvo owner's forums, like:

Just splurge on OEM sensor! Those universal ones are crap, … never work right. Almost never, …
