P0157 and P0156 after oil change, do i need a new sensor?

Just drove home after getting an oil change at the Toyota dealership with  a check engine light code half way home, called back they said they were closed till monday... i whipped out my bluetoooth obd2 reader and and it gave me p0156 and p0157 which are low voltage on the o2 sensor (bank 2 sensor 2) and circuit malfunction. I went to check on it and it was drenched in oil (which i later read was a big issue during oil changes on a 2005 toyota highlander as the sensor is below the oil filter).

I wiped the sensor and its electrical connector off and sprayed it with soapy water, cleared the codes and went on a drive. Hasn't come back on in 20-30km so far. Is there anything I should be worried about? Do I have to change the o2 sensor still?

Going back to the dealership to give them a peace of my mind on monday about this.

hi, I know it has been a year since you wrote this post.
Yesterday I got an oil change for the first time at Firestone.
A few miles driving the VSC light was on. I pulled off and called them to ask why is this after an oil change. They asked me to come in the next morning. WELL, I did read if they did a sloppy oil change the 02 sensor was below the pan. Sure enough, when they showed me the underbelly, there was oil all over the parts. Disgusted with the work, but they cleaned it and went on and on what po157 could be. I knew they were trying to get me to later come in a spend more money. I would never have oil all over the parts; sloppy machanic! And this was a new place I chose. So, I am greatly disappointed in the workmanship from the mechanic and how the manager have to cover their butts on the staff. I am a female and know better!!!!

If I were you, I would not touch it and took the car to the dealer. Now just drive it and Pray that cleaning with soapy water didn’t ruin the sensor.

Dealers and chain stores are the last places you want to service your vehicle.  Find an independent mechanic.

You don't need a sensor, it's all circuit faults.

The codes you posted:

P0156 - HO2S22 Circuit Malfunction

P0157 - HO2S22 Circuit Low Voltage

Check the wiring, and gently pull and check the connectors.

just inspect what's goin' on with the wiring and connectors to the rear heated oxygen sensor on bank 2.

To me it sounds like the dealer decided to sabotage your wiring, but eh - as I see it, there's no real way to know.

@DayWalker whoops! I didn’t look at the date. Oh well, it might be useful to future visitors.
