I have a ‘99 Chevrolet S-10 with the 4.3 V6, automatic transmission with 134,000 miles. It’s in excellent shape and runs great. My air conditioner works as it should but when I turn the ignition off for short time the air conditioner blows hot air. If I let the truck sit for few hours the A/C works normally again. What could be causing this?

How can your system blow any air with the ignition off?

Is the compressor clutch engaging? If not that points to a likely problem with a sensor or in the electronics.

If I shut it down for a short time like at the gas pump or grocery store it doesn’t blow cold when I crank it up. It works normally after it sits for 3 or 4 hours.
