Hey Scotty, {black}

I have a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S 3.1L V6 with 128k miles and the Motor runs great and shifts with no problem's. What's your Opinion about this classic ride? Was it a good car when it came out?

Now the Problem that I really could use your expertise with...

I have this sequel coming from the motor. It starts when I fire it up and when i start moving the sequel gets higher pitched and will stop when I get to around 30mph. I tested the Alt. and its in good working condition. I thought my serpentine belt might be loose.. but its tight and in good condition with no signs of cracks..  I hope you might have some indication about this mysterious sequel..

                         Thank you so much,

                                   K.Parson

Alternator can test ok and still squeal. I had a 93 wrangler the alternator squealed everytime it was under a load. Could be idler pulley, tensioner pulley, compressor etc… Or the belt itself could be slipping. If belt hasn’t been changed just because it doesn’t have cracks doesn’t mean it isn’t slipping. Out a wrench in one of your pulleys, if you can turn it without moving the belt then your belt needs changed or your tensioner needs replaced. Also I would free spin all pulleys by hand with the belt off. If any don’t feel right, to tight or don’t feel like they’re rotating smoothly then they’re likely bad. One other thing, if your ac works, leave ac on see if it still squeals. If not then you likely have a compressor clutch issue.
