Hello Scotty 🙏.Its a pleasure to have access to talk withh you. I am from India. I am a big fan and a loyal follower of yours. I just wanted to know your opinion about the car company CitroĂ«n which is  recently launched here in india. The model is CitroĂ«n c3. I wanted to know about how much reliable a CitroĂ«n car can be. The car offered here is very much featureless bearing the same engine which is offered world-wide by CitroĂ«n. I will never prioritize features over the engine reliability.  I hope you can help me by giving some suggestions about this car. And you are great at what you are doing. May god give you a thousand more years so that you could help educating people about cars. You are brilliant in what you are doing. Thank you very much.🙏 And yes it is a manual.

Citroën c3

I hope Scotty answers this directly.

From my POV, Citreon is owned by Peugeot which is now owned by Stellantis. Scotty usually recommends to steer clear of anything Stellantis. And I suspect this includes thr Citreon as well.

Do they have Honda or Toyota where you live?

Citroën has not been sold in the U.S. for decades so it's not likely that Scotty or most of the people here have had any direct experience with recent models.

I personally believe they reached their peak a long time ago and have gone downhill since.

It depends, the C5 II was incredible - I think that was the peak.
Particularly the 2.0L naturally aspirated gas engine with the CitroMatic AMT to get the real Citroen experience.
Although the CrossTourer with a large diesel mated to an Aisin AT is also just an incredible, luxurious, ride.

After the C5II picked they launched what is possibly the best small minivan ever built, the Grand Picasso - on which the HDI150 (2.0L diesel) is rated to do over 60 mpg us (74.3 mpg UK), it also had a super durable Aisin and very little mechanical issues,

And now they have launched a new popular crossover called the C4X and an electric version called Ă«-C4.
It has a 1.5L diesel power trained mated to a beefed up version of the Rav4's 8 speed,
Or as a very basic and cool looking 219 mile EV - about the same price as and performance as the cheapest Corolla hybrid in Europe! And as far as the styling and interior it definitely doesn't feel any worse than a corolla (- the reliability of PSA's EV tech is still to be determined.)

Citroen is exciting and their range always has one or sometimes maybe even a few good models, and usually plenty of terrible ones - the C3 is definitely the latter.

I don't know, the DS ("Goddess") is a pretty tough act to follow. I've driven them, nothing else like it on the planet. Didn't even like the SM as much. As I said though Citroën has been gone from the States for a very long time, so no experience with their newer models.

Driving a DS sounds amazing, especially their automated transmission,
I agree the original DS was unbeatable and would be near impossible to follow up.
The current state of Citroen's DS marque is a bit sad, sales are terrible compared to other luxury brands...

But the good news is that all new FCA cars will have a bit of the DS in them.
PSA has said that all of FCA's new compact and mid-sized cars will be based on the next generation of the DS 7 Crossback's platform, and all EV models are very likely to have DS's E-TENSE powertrain.
(although that's not 'the DS')

The C3 is not recommended, it's just a "meh" car.

The 1.2T is somewhat decent, a lot better than Ford's turbocharged crap, better than smaller TSI engines - but still not even close to Suzuki, Mazda and Toyota.

The good thing about Citroens is that they often use a Toyota derived 8 speed automatic,

but the overall quality of the C3 just leaves a lot to be desired.

It's just too mediocre - a boring version of the 2nd generation Peugeot 208.

And accordion to rumors it's only built to last 7 years and 150,000km...

(IF AVAILABLE) a Euro Yaris / Euro Yaris Cross is on the same level of refinement but more durable.
