Should I fix up a $200 2001 pathfinder?

Hey guys, day before yesterday I picked up an 01 Nissan Pathfinder for $200, has alot of miles (216k) but the engine runs smooth/quiet with no valve chatter and no timing chain noise also the transmission seems to shift smooth and goes right into gear. But lol, the alternator is bad, and also has a bad oil leak (haven't figured out what it is yet, haven't been able to look at it.) My question is are these vehicles worth saving? the body is in nice shape and no rust but has paint missing. Clean title. I'd like to clean it up well and use it as a weekend cruiser lol.

Those old Nissans are a lot better made back in the day and for 200 bucks I would say it is worth keeping for a couple of years. Just make sure that you maintain it.

Thanks guys, not going to spend over $700 in repairs. I'll have $900 in it, which I'm happy with. Damn alternator bracket bolt cross threaded, ugh.

It really depends on the condition of the engine & transmission. If they’re still healthy, the vehicle may still have considerable life, left in it.

Check for the oil leak using this method -

Don't put much money into it drive it around and if something expensive goes wrong just get rid of it.
