Hi Scotty! Faithful viewer of your YouTube channel here. I'm thinking about buying either a used Toyota Corolla SE/XSE with the 2.0L gas engine (non-hybrid) or a used Acura ILX. I was surprised to find that you can pick up either one at CarMax for about the same price. The Acura has a 2.4L non-turbo engine which has more horsepower and is faster and more fun to drive than the Corolla. However, do I need to worry about any reliability issues with their dual-clutch automatic transmission? Is the Toyota CVT even any better in terms of reliability? Seems like the ILX would be the better buy if the prices are about the same. What do you think? Any recommendation between current gen Corolla or the ILX?
If you are buying used, you might be able to find a Corolla Hatchback with a manual. That would give you more zip and even better reliability.
