I'm looking for a daily commuter on a budget and i'm going to be checking out a 2000 toyota corolla that's been put up for 1500 OBO. it has 150,000 miles , and in the description they say it runs well but has a small oil leak and broken door handles. One thing i noticed on the pictures is that the registration sticker expired in 2018 which they did not mention. Was just wondering if it's worth to go look at and what I should look out for when inspecting the car, thank you!

Those cars are notorious for burning oil. I would pass.

For this 22 year old car, find the source of the oil leak and offer him $700.  At least you could get that back in scrap value if need be.

I loved my 2001 Corolla of the same generation. Every single Asian in California had one. Didn't care much about the burning out, just ment I had fresh oil all the time LOL. In seriousness though, I'd offer lower as well. I'd definitely bring along a mechanic if you can, 'small oil leak' <--+ya don't know what this exactly means, could actually be a couple drops or a Benz valve cover. Also if the dude neglected to even say about the tags I have very little reason to just be like "okay 1500 is cheap on today's market". If you are able to get a good inspection on it (including looking over the whole condition of the car, oil, coolant, trans, brakes, full test drive, like 30 minutes over different terrain if you can at the very least. If the guy don't want to then let it go, he's hiding more than what ya bargain for)
