Hi Scott -- I'm a big fan of your show; I've been watching for years. I just finished grad school and I'm moving to LA. I saved up $7,000 to buy my first car. I'm taking your advice and buying a Toyota Corolla. When I search on Carvana and Carmax, I'm unable to find Toyota Corolla vehicles in that price range. What should I do? Is $7,000 not enough? Which dealer/vendor should I use? What year would you recommend?

it's not enough at those greedy places those chains always charge way too much especially carvana because they are expanding they have spiraled billions to get their operations expanded and guess who pays that back you the guy buying the car from him. Try to find individual sellers look at Craigslist there's lots better ways than going to dealers that always rip you off price wise

carmax and carvana steal your money

look on craigslist you can find 2010-2013 Corolla's easily in that price range. There are a lot on craigslist in California just look there you can find ton's of Corolla's Matrix's Camry's the whole lot! For that price range, try to get a 2010 or 2011. It will be newer and safe and the 2009 had oil burnig problems on some trims.

Get a Civic. More reliable, lower cost. But if your 6'2" tall or over, don't get either one, you won't fit

Also look at used Miata, but only if you want to have fun driving.
