To bleed out the system, remove the coolant reservoir cap (when the engine is cold) and turn on the engine. Let it idle for a few minutes so that the thermostat opens and the water pump starts to circulate all the coolant. You should be able to see air bubbles coming out from the coolant reservoir IF you have air in the system. Once you're done, tighten the cap up very tightly. If that doesn't help with your overheating issue, then I suggest flushing out the coolant and replacing the radiator and/or thermostat.

Change the radiator cap first if it's old.

Had a car gurgle excessively after shutting it off.  The new radiator cap fixed the issue.
