Should I buy this 2017 CPO Civic?

I am currently in the process of buying a used 2017 Honda civic LX-P coupe. It has 102,000 miles on it and I does have Honda pre-owned certified, and I did hire somebody to inspect it as well. The only thing he found in the inspection is a cracked windshield and replacing the timing belt. Although I thought Honda did away with the timing belt and switched to the chain after 2006. It's never been in an accident and has an extensive maintenance history with a gap during covid. It did get it's transmission fluid changed at 70,000 by the last owner.

I know I'm being paranoid and anxious but that's because this'll be my second car. My first car was a 2010 Ford mustang I got used and had it since 2017. I never did inspection with it and it was from a shady dealer but it was cheap..... Until a month later in January when the entire engine had to be replaced cause it was in an accident and nothing on it's engine was original to the car.

It's never been in an accident

If you're relying on Carfax or similar report for that information it is not necessarily accurate. A car could be in an accident and repaired at a shop that doesn't report to them. However your mechanic should have been able to see signs of body work when inspecting the vehicle.

That sounds like a lot of miles for "certified pre-owned" vehicle. Is the "certification" being provided by Honda or by the dealer? In many cases all you really get is paying a higher price.

You did not state what engine it has. At least at rockauto.com all engines available for the 2017 Civic are listed as using a timing chain, not a belt. (Maybe your mechanic meant the fan belt?) If it's the 1.5 turbo engine those are known for oil dilution problems.

@chucktobias LX-P models have the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine. It is the EX-T that has the turbo motor.

replacing the timing belt

Did you/the mechanic mean drive belt?

If that’s the only thing that needs immediate attention, and the CVT is in good shape, all the best.

It has 102,000 miles on it and I does have Honda pre-owned certified

Honda has different levels of "Certified Pre-Owned" each with different degrees of coverage. According to Honda, a 2017 year model would, at best, fall into the "HondaTrue Used" coverage (90 days or 5k miles) > https://www.hondacertified.com/certified-preowned-benefits

Correction: 100 days or 5000 miles of coverage
