Are push button transmissions any good.

I have been trading in my Honda Pilot near 100K for a while now since I found I could get about 50% of purchase price at trade in. I have avoided brake jobs, timing belt changes , and tires since I use snow tires. I only change the oil and  rotate the tires. I had a Pilot Limited with a push button transmission, but it was stolen. Now I have an EXL. I did not like the push button transmission because of the delay between pushing the button and the car actually shifting. Even though the engine shut off while stopped, I cannot appreciate a difference in gas mileage from my current. Unfortunately I have learned that If I trade in for new, I will be stuck with a push button transmission. I found them annoying, are they any good?

They're all electronic and act the same these days.
My wife's HRV has the standard console shifter. It hesitates when shifting as well. Especially, from reverse-drive or drive-reverse.
Guess it is a feature meant to keep people from slamming into gear while the car is still moving in the opposite direction.

I never had any problem with them, but my experience with pushbutton automatic transmissions is with cars that were built around 60 years ago.

You will probably not be surprised that I still use those! 😎

I'm not. But I AM surprised that they are still compatible.

They are working fine on the FIOS land line here. Those old Western Electric phones are practically indestructible, very typical for them to work for decades with no problems. It's too bad that cell phones are considered obsolete trash after just a few years.

they would last a bit longer if they only sat on a table plugged in all the time.
I squeeze every last drop out of mine.

True, but comparing the quality of construction - there is no comparison. Plus the old desk phone can be used as a hammer in a pinch and probably not be damaged.

they were definitely more satisfying to slam down on someone

I have a 1964 Chrysler with a pushbutton transmission, being mechanical it works just fine.
