Argh!...Ford!

I'm in the market for a used full-size truck and I want an F-150. Unfortunately, literally, all the used ones within 500 kms of me in my price range have that brutal 5.4L three-valve engine. I've heard you say "as long as it's 2010 or newer, it's OK" but how does one really know with this engine? Should I wait and pray to find a 5.0L? What can I look for or hear in the 5.4L engine that might say it has to be rebuilt or replaced?

All you have to do is look at a 5.4 and you know it has to be rebuilt.

Stay away from 2018+. They have severe oil consumption issues.
