I know AT-205 will soften rubber but it is costing twice as much as it use to.  Will

I just want something to spray on rubber to keep it soft like all the rubber on a car engine.

Those are band-aid solutions. And you get what you pay for as a general rule, AT-205 is Scotty's go-to. I say find the source of the leak and replace what's leaking. Unless your rack is leaking or you have some ridiculous design like the early 90s BMW 540i where they buried half of the lines under the engine, it's not that hard to replace the rubber lines where the power steering systems tend to leak.

I owned one of the BMWs I mentioned, the return hose ran up underneath the engine, back to the reservoir and was not replaceable without pulling the engine mine leaked. The hose was only $70, but it was 21 years old at the time. I didn't fix it and sold it on.

Please explain what you're actually trying to accomplish, rather than asking these nebulous questions.

This should help you understand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FGPbSafSpI

if you have money to burn, and it satisfies some itch, or you need a reason to putter around the garage to get away from the family, then fly right at it. But if you ask me, you might as well spray water at it.

My advice is to save your money, and just replace parts when they wear out. I don't believe in these snake oils at all.

In my car, the AT-205 stopped the steering leak. BlueDevil is a new word to me. Taking into consideration other options for repairing the steering system instead, and how costly those are, I actually dont give a *** about how much a bottle of AT-205 costs - it might cost three times as much, and six times as much as a BlueDevil which is unknown to me and not guaranteed to render same results - I would still buy the AT-205.
