[Solved] Audi Q5 battery replacement

Hi! I have a 2011 Audi Q5 Premium Plus S Line 3.2L V6, and even though the voltage test is normal, I know the battery will fail soon (it’s the original). Do I have to “reprogram” the battery with this model (and get a dealership battery)  or can I just swap it out with an equivalent auto shop battery? Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you!

Yes some European car have this smart charging and need new battery to he register.

I would ring up your dealer and ask this specfic question and go to a battery place and get them to do it.

I bought a tool from ebay that does this on my car.

Hello,
You are 100% correct, When the battery is replaced it has to be registered in the BCM or the multifunction control on many European car makes.
All the Best.

Get one of those memory savers and connect it to the OBD port. Then replace the battery. I don’t think you will face any issues.

Thank you. I bought a memory saver in anticipation of that happening. I had heard that Audi’s used some sort of computer modulated recharging system for their batteries, requiring them to be “coded” for certain models when they are replaced.
