Hello Mr. Kilmer,

I have a 2010 Camry LE with over 185,000 miles as my first car. Despite the car's mileage, the car still runs fine, but I've been thinking about putting another engine in the car. sometime down the road. Is it better to put in a used engine with the 116K miles, or should I rather purchase a rebuilt Remans engine?

P.S. What would also be your opinion on transmissions? Used or Rebuilt?

That engine will last a long time (300K+) with proper maintenance. Wouldn't replace the motor until it dies. By that time, it may cost way more than the car is worth.

If you have an extra few grand to waste, you might as well sell and buy a car with lower millage.

But replacing a perfectly working engine for not reason? what?

Keep the original engine. It's not worth it spending your money for something that is pretty unnecessary to do. Especially the fact that it's a Toyota engine! Lol, they can last forever as long as it's taken care of.
