This is my first AWD vehicle. 2017 GMC Terrain, 74k miles, original motor and transmission. Without pushing any buttons my vehicle sometimes feels like it's running in 4WD, kind of like dragging, extra effort. I've been told it has 2 transfer cases ? I've also been told it could be the linkage?
I don't have a lot of money and can't do the repairs myself but don't want to get ripped off either.
GM all-wheel drive systems aren't all that great they break down. They do all kinds of wonky things. The other way you can even work on those is finding a guy like me with a dealer level scan tool to do bidirectional testing those all-wheel drive system. And guys don't work cheap that have that kind of equipment and gender repairs are relatively expensive. My advice is don't buy an all-wheel drive system if you don't have much money because they're very expensive to repair. But if it runs okay otherwise I'd live with it. If I were you, it's a GM product and they fall apart as they age anyway
