Transmission is slipping

Scotty,

Big fan. I have a question about my 2006 Cadillac SRX purchased may of last year with 191K plus change. It is currently here in Ohio at a Aamco/repair shop due to a slipping transmission. I did purchase a 1 yr. or 15,000 mile Cars Protection Plus value plus warranty (expires 6/02/22) with the auto. I was trained in auto mechanics, aviation maintenance (A&P airframe/powerplants, I have good understanding of engineering principles and practice. I am 71 yrs old and can no longer wrench. My question is, the shop just called me to inform me that I must ok the removal to continue.  The shop informed me that the car had no codes concerning the transmission but did code PO430/PO119. According to my research a 430 code is a O2 sensor, bank 2, and a 119 code is the coolant sensor. The cars temp gauge never goes above halfway mark all related fluids were topped. Is a no code on transmission when slipping standard? I was informed by the shop that the warranty company could deny the claim to fix it and I am liable for approx. $900 for just the removal. I am on SSI retirement and can't afford the out of pocket expense if warranty will not cover repairs.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Keep up the good work!!

AAMCO is a ripoff joint, I'd get the car out of there and to a good local transmission shop. You can bet the warranty company will do everything possible to weasel out of paying. That's what they do.

Total scam.  Never go to these chain shops.  Get your car to an honest mechanic and tell Aamco to go pound sand.
