So I'm looking for a luxury SUV. It doesn't have to be a luxury brand, just something with nice leather trim. I live in snowy Utah and would love to get one from a private seller once people start dumping theirs on the market in spring. My budget is up to $16K for lowest mileage possible. The perfect vehicle would have:
- 4WD or AWD for snow
- Nice leather trim
- Enough space to haul furniture in
- Easy enough to DIY upgrade to android auto stereo
- Long lifespan, cheap overall maintenance (I only drive about 9Kmi/year)
I've looked into both a Toyota RAV-4 and Acura RDX and I'm wondering if im on the right track for a quality vehicle. This is my first time buying a car for myself and I plan to daily drive it. Thank you very much for your help!
Lexus RX is a great recommendation. I would also keep an eye out for Toyota Sequoia and Land Cruisers.
You might also want to consider the Lexus RX350 which might last longer than the RDX. The previous generation of the Rav4 (2017 ish) could also be a good buy especially in higher trims.
Im looking into RX350s in my area and I like what Im seeing. I just wish their was the same massive volume that RDX's have but I guess thats what happens when a car lasts? Also do luxury brands usually offer more horsepower?
Typically they do the RX has around 270-295 horsepower compared to the Highlanders 187-270 horsepower but don't expect it to be sporty but it won't be a slouch. Test drive them.
For luxurious SUV that also meets your specs, I’d go with the Lexus RX350 or Toyota Sequoia/Land Cruiser. You will definitely take a hit in fuel economy with the Sequoia/Land Cruiser compared to the RX350.
With the keyword of luxury and haul furnitures, and longevity, look into these.
Lexus: RX, GX
Toyota: Higher trimmed Sequioa, Highlander, or Land Cruiser
Acura: MDX
Honda: the latest two generations of the Pilot.
(Land Cruiser and GX are basically the same vehicle).
I would get the RDX. Its less expensive to repairs than Lexus
Depending on how big the furniture is or how many furniture(s) you're trying to fit into the vehicle at once the Rav4 may be too small since it is a compact SUV.
I would recommend looking into a used Highlander or Sequoia like others mentioned above.
