Best Spark Plugs for a '79 Pontiac 301

I'm planning on doing a tune-up on my new-to-me '79 Pontiac Catalina project car this weekend, and I was wondering what kind of spark plugs to use in an old 2-barrel GM V8. I was going to go with AC-DELCO platinum plugs, which I can get a set of 8 from RockAuto for $21 and some change. I'm not sure if the ignition system will fire properly with platinum plugs, or if resistor plugs or copper plugs will be best, given the age of the design. Thanks!

I'd stick with the original type AC-Delco plugs specified by the factory. I'm not sure how modern platinum spark plugs will fare with the ragged fuel delivery of a carburetor and the old-school electronic distributor. Those newfangled plugs were designed for use in vehicles with precise, computer-controlled fuel and spark delivery.

Stick with the older design that it calls for.

I'm not 100% sure what the car calls for, other than what the auto parts stores bring up. These are the copper AC-Delco plugs that I'm eyeballing, only on RockAuto, they're over $1 cheaper than any auto parts store. Will these work?

Yes, those would be the original equipment type plugs for that car.

For good measure, would you use Delco wires as well, or will a brand like Walker suffice as well?

Any good quality ignition wires will be fine.
