BMW N54

Scotty, I have a 2007 BMW N54 convertible, manual transmission. It just crossed 100,000 miles. So far zero issues. I know you hate this car and I'm in a dilemma if I should sell it or keep it. I take care of all the maintenance myself, and have tried to stay on top of all the known issues that come along with this car (oil filter housing leak, valve cover gasket leak, plugs, vanos selinoids, walnut blasted, new water pump, etc). Now that I've crossed 100k will this become and "endless money pit" or can they last if they're actually maintained. Your thoughts?  I love driving it, and it still looks as new as the day it rolled off the lot.

Hello,

Great to see you do your own repairs,

If you're replacing all the bits that give trouble as they come up, Usually you end up with a good car,

Everything that gives trouble has been replaced,

Ask yourself, if this car was for sale, Would you buy it.

Hope this Helps

All the Best.

The main N54 problems are very well known, so as long as you are aware of what they are and are keeping ahead of them you are ahead of the game.

With a 2007 you should be before BMW really got into everything being electronic, which is definitely one of their weak points. Might you have to budget $1-2/year for upkeep, quite possibly, but that's likely still better than dropping much more on a replacement.
