I have a 2012 BMW X5 35I with 135,000 miles. Had timing checked after timing chain came off sprocket. Drive belt entered the chain through the timing cover seal. Repaired. Now the car wont idle smoothly. We didn't here any vacuum leaks using aerosols method, checked for codes and reset the adaptations of the acentric electric motor. Any suggestions what this could be? thanks and I love your channel.

I just went through this, Mine was the High Pressure Fuel pump.
I have a 2012 35i with 99K miles. It would crank for about 3-7sec before starting and then idle rough or low. New HPFP and it starts as soon as you push the button and idles smoother then ever. Hope that helps. |

Check the forums often they have good advice. You may not have the same issue he was having with the high pressure fuel pump but it is worth looking into.

I have owned 4 BMW's [Scotty stop laughing].
My 2012 did this until I ran 3 cans [spray] Sea Foam through it. It runs even better! It Surges a little until it partially warms up ant then runs very smooth.
Perhaps the eccentric shaft sensor? It’s located towards the front of the engine under the valve cover.
I gather there are no faults?
