[Solved] Break in oil change for 2022 Tacoma??

Scotty, the manual in my new 2022 Tacoma says to do the first oil change at 10,000 miles? Are they crazy? I was planning on doing it at 1,500.

Side note, since Mobil 1 makes Toyota OEM oil, can i just use Mobil 1 instead of the more expensive Toyota Oil? 0w-20.

Thanks,

Milton

I would do it at 1500 miles and 5000 miles thereafter.  As long as the oil is the correct grade and weight specified by the manufacturer, you're good.

Thanks Doc. Toyota Oem oil has a special additive package containing higher parts of boron and moly, as well as other additives. Scotty always says to use OEM products. But this oil is 7 bucks a quart, when i can get Mobil 1 for 4 bucks a quart. I think 5,000 mile intervals with either will do just fine. What do you think ?

Scotty always says to use OEM products.

This is usually for automatic transmission fluid.

Use any name brand full synthetic oil which meets the oil spec in your owner’s manual, like @doc suggested. Doesn’t even have to be Mobil 1..
