I had a test drive today and it was driving smooth. I need a car right now. I don't think I have a time for mechanics to inspect this thing before purchasing it. This is the only car that I can afford around my area.

It has 2 accidents according to carfax. Should I still buy it or nah?

Hmm... yes, she's got some issues. A simple search gives these results. P0100U0415  If you're thinking you'll buy and drive without problems I don't know but I wouldn't count on it. If you've got time to fix it then I might go for it.

Sorry P1000, not P100

That is a huge gamble.  I would not buy any car with an inspection.  How good are you skills at inspection? I just say this because I wouldn't want anyone stuck with a bad vehicle.

So if the mechanic said its good, is it okay to buy?

Hell Nah.

Yeah without having a mechanic inspect it I wouldn't purchase it especially since you are saying it has been in 2 accidents too. It's not worth the risk.

So is it good to buy when the inspection result is good?

Run the codes at least before you decide but you really should have a mechanic look at it.

2 codes showed up (P100 and U0415)

Code P1000 could be a red flag depending on emissions laws where you live or if there's something else they are trying to hide. I don't know if the codes erase if say the car has sat for awhile and the battery became weak or not. Or maybe they just replaced the battery who knows but there must be a reason why the codes have been erased.

Here's what it means

|P1000 2011 FORD FUSION code possible causes

  • The vehicle is new from the factory.
  • Battery or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) had recently been disconnected.
  • An OBD monitor failure occurred before completion of an OBD drive cycle.
  • PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) have recently been cleared with a scan tool.

The guy who trying to sell it said he recently replaced the battery and didn't drive it for weeks. Blue driver said the most common solution for this code is driving a lot. Luckily my province doesn't do emission test.
When i was scanning for the 2nd time, I erased all of codes but both of them popped out again.

Yes, you have to complete a drive cycle not that hard. With my Ford Focus you can just get on the freeway at 55 mph for about 30 minutes and it will reset. Since you erased the codes and the same two came back I'd say you only have to worry about U4015. According to the site I found it's about $200 bucks to diagnose it and I don't know if a car can work with out ant-lock brakes. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Oh I forgot to tell you this.
Both of codes showed up after I did a test driver for an hour and erasing the code.

All I can say is if it were me, I'd have U4015 checked before I bought it.

A car can certainly work without antilock brakes. Mine has had the ABS light on for over 10 years, brakes otherwise work normally. I think that's the case with most vehicles (Scotty says so) but I don't know specifically if this will be a serious problem on a Ford Fusion.

The mechanic said it is in pretty good shape but there are some stuffs to get replaced such as rotors, pads, control arms, etc (I believe shocks and something cover is included as well but his hand writing on the memo is very bad so I am not sure) so that it can pass safety standards certificate and the cost is gonna be around 1500 bucks. Also, he found a small leak from exhaust part which is hard to find cause it doesn't land on the ground.

This is the only used car I can find around my area. Should I still buy this car? If so, what thing can I fix it by myself?

Please do not make multiple posts for the same thing, it is a violation of forum rules. (Topics merged.)

Oh sorry i didn't know that

Some info on common problems with these cars you may run into even if it checks out OK at the moment:

Also you don't really know what kind of latent damage there might be from the two accidents.

So this all translates into a big gamble. Are you feeling lucky?
