Sorry if this is off topic, but after seeing one of Scotty's videos, I tried to get this locally and all over the web. I can't get it anywhere.
Does anyone where I can get this stuff? Or is there a similar product.
I want it for conditioning rubber parts, not stopping leaks.
Thanks!
Scott
If you're rejuvenating a leaky rear main seal, Scotty says to add it at every oil change. That stuff has gone up to $22 a bottle in my area and it wouldn't make long-term sense to use it so often. I'd try it once and check for leaks every once in a while. It will rejuvenate and probably dry out again over time, not immediately upon changing the oil.
Ok thanks
If the engine was too far gone for the sealer to help to begin with, it's too late now.
"I've fixed ... the rear main seal ( with the help of ATP 205)"
correction: you didn't fix it. You bought yourself a few months.
$2k might have gotten you a replacement used motor.
It sounds like this poor engine has had it. But 22 years aint bad.
meant to type $3,000
I added ATP 205 30,000 miles ago . That stuff is impressive. Hasn't leaked a drop since. I thought this stuff would be a band aid for that oil change oil . I haven't added any ATP since. The car is falling apart. I should just scrap it. But after shopping for a replacement in this state. Everything used under 5k was just as worn out. I figured I would see how far it would go with a new fuel system and exhaust , Both of which rusted out at the same time. I agree. This motor is on it's way out. Maybe i'll get another year out of it. I started taking secondary roads to keep the engine speed down , maybe use a little less oil. Cruising 70-75 MPH for 40 minutes twice a day isn't helping I'm sure.
Scotty has said numerous times that stop-and-go driving does 10x the wear on engines than highway driving. Using a bit more oil is probably better than engine wear and tear.
It is not for your engine maintenance, so there is no predefined intervals. What issues you have that you want to fix with AT205?
Ok thank you. 2005 GMC 1500 Sierra 203000 highway miles automatic transmission. Small oil leaks front and rear main seals.
Scotty recommended to change the oil and add the AT205 to the new oil. Use it every time you change the oil.
That’s overkill and waste of money to add AT205 each time to new oil.
This is what Scotty recommends since by each oil change, you loose the stuff.
The truck and driver shortage is hitting the chemical industry hard. A friend of mine works for a company that manufactures lubricants and cleaners for industrial use and he tells me raw material delivery is way behind schedule, products backordered for months, and they're having trouble even getting whatever finished products they can produce shipped out. The supply chain is badly disrupted. It's a mess and may get worse if lockdowns return with the cold weather.
That's what I thought... Also Hi . I am owner operator of a semi. Have you wondered why there aren't enough drivers? Simple. pay is bad. Fuel is expensive. Parts and maintenance prices a getting worse. Many of my friends dumped this business. I am on a verge of doing the same. This year all though I was busy due to others quiting. My income to expenses ratio looks worse yet.
Example. Truck generated 200k this year. 90 k gone on fuel. 15 k gone to licence and insurance. 45k is repairs and maintenance. 5k on other business related expenses... And 25k is a truck payments.
Income this year before tax approximately 20k Working 60 hrs a week on average. Whole year. Doing it out of habit I guess. Maybe I should go back to flipping burgers. Seems more profitable. Sorry if not very related to the topic. Just thought you should know that there are drivers . We just don't make much anymore...
Can't blame people for getting out of a business with increasing aggravation and decreasing reward. The nonsensical restrictions coming out of the Peoples' Republic of California I'm sure does not help any, and that insanity may well spread, making things even more difficult. (Is there LSD in the water out there or something?) Maybe what's needed is a general truckers' strike to focus attention on these problems and do something about them.
AT205 is a temporary bandaid for rubber engine seals. It's not for regular, periodic use.
Ok thanks
AT-205 doesn't come into contact with any component of your ignition system if you use it properly, and your engine isn't shot. These are likely pre-existing conditions and the owner is looking for something to blame it on.
clogged oil filters
This could only really happen if you put WAY too much in the engine, and the seals start physically breaking down. This is probably another case of people trying to blame their own neglect of their vehicle on a product.
it just doesn't do much at all. I assume the latter is because the rubber is in too poor of condition or there simply isn't enough to keep things structurally sound
The rubber must be intact in order for AT-205 to work. If there is a break or crack of any kind in the rubber and the fluid is leaving through it, AT-205 won't work. It will not restore a broken valve cover gasket or oil pan gasket. It may rejuvenate a rear main seal if it is merely shriveled up, NOT broken.
It also depends on what the seal is made of. If it's an old style rope seal from the 70s and before, it won't do anything for you.
Is it just a matter of making sure you put the correct amount in?
Follow the directions on the bottle. I tried it earlier this week in my '79 Pontiac to see if it'll stop a slow leak in the input shaft seal, my car hasn't had any issues. AT-205 won't work for my rear main leak, because it's a rope seal, not a more modern, rubber one.
thank you the third response was redundant but I appreciate the feedback
There's really none to be had right now. The manufacturer has announced that more supplies will not be available until at least early next year. (In the U.S. there is a critical shortage of trucks and drivers which has interrupted supply chains.) The only chance to find any would be local stock and that's been depleted just about everywhere.
Search this forum. This question has been answered many times.
Where's Mr. Kilmer? 😕
again, use the search. You will find Mr. Kilmer's answers as well.
that's what happens when there is a shortage of transport trucks
Order it online
Also listed on Amazon but temporarily outta stock
I called the company that makes it today. The good news is that is has not been discontinued. The bad news is they are have supply chain interruptions and are not able to produce any at this time. Hopefully they can start producing more by the end of summer.
Fire that destroyed the Chemtool factory last month may be to blame.
It was a huge supplier of oils, lubes, and additives.
Sadly I've never found another product that works like that
See below: you are not the first nor will be the last to ask about this.

The manufacturer has state that it will be unavailable until some time next year.
None available until next year according to the manufacturer due to supply chain and shipping problems.
I'm using "Blue Devil - Oil Stop Leak" as an alternative to ATP AT-205 Reseal.
Based on the MSDS, they have the same ingredient, which is 100% Di(ethylene glycol) ethyl ether (AKA CAS# 111-90-0).
Cheers,

Thanks. Compared the MSDs sheets and you were correct.
The best alternative is to replace the leaking seal(s).
???
I'm not sure what you do not understand here. These kind of products are temporary bandaids for minor leaks at best. The best alternative as I said is to do a proper repair instead.
Ok. I was using ??? to ask a question on your black and white YouTube car video. But alight then.
I'm not interested in AT-4 Re-Seal as to repair anything. I'm interested in this product as to what Scotty says to rejuvenate Rubber Bushings, Rubber Mounts, CV Joints, (Boots) Etc.
OK, that's a horse of a different color then. I know that at some point in the past someone on the board here talked about a product that was said to have the same ingredients. A search may turn that up.
@jonaeski there's no such thing as AT-4
yes that spray silicone will help a little bit.
Hey Scotty, I'm trying to find AT-205 Reseal to use in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler automatic transmission, leaking from the rear seal. It suddenly is not to be found anywhere in stores or online. The manufacturer says it will be the end of the year before they have it in stock. Any suggestion for an alternative product? The tranny is losing about a quart a week or so. Otherwise it runs fine. Thanks!
Rear transmission seals are usually very easy to replace, you remove the driveshaft and pop the seal out...
On most rear-drive vehicles that's the case but if that's a 4x4 Jeep I'm pretty sure the transfer case needs to come out to get to the rear trans seal. For that matter I have a rear-drive car here where the rear axle/torque tube assembly needs to come out to get at the leaking rear seal.
I reckon you are right, I have only done it on 2wd. Thanks!
I apologize if the question has already been asked and snswered but, what happened to ATP's AT 205 Re Seal? I can't seem to find it anywhere?
The chemical industry is suffering a supply/worker shortage currently and the supply chain is out of whack.
It will take time for the supplies to hit shelves.
well you can see it's for sale at advance Auto in the United States and I buy it on Amazon all the time
@scottykilmer yes but actually try to go through with the buying process and you will see that it cannot be done
OR.....you could do a permanent fix to your issue instead.
