Camaro 2000 Z28 Rear noise sound

Hello Scotty.

Thank you for your awesome youtube videos.

I live in France, a country where unfortunately there are very few smart mechanics 🤓 especially for American cars.

I own several American cars, including a 2000 Camaro Z28.

For some time I have been hearing a loud noise from behind, like a turbine or blower, which increases with speed.

They tell me it's the rear wheel bearings and they tell me that they all have to dismantle the axle, transmission and change everything...

Can you advise me on what to change and how to do it?

I find this part it is good?

If needed I can post you a link of the noise?

Thank you very much 💓

It's very likely a rear wheel bearing. (Hopefully it's that and not your differential!)

I'm not familiar with that car but it has a solid rear axle and on most of those to replace wheel bearings it is not necessary to do anything other than remove the axle shafts, the transmission does not have to be touched. From what I can tell with a quick online search your axle shafts are held in by C-clips inside the differential. It should not be a difficult job for any good mechanic or even an experienced amateur.

Ebay is not a good source for critical parts. Many there are cheap Chinese counterfeits. Best would be an OEM bearing set or one of the leading brands such as SKF or Timkin.
